The Incredible Pizza Post

The weekend before Thanksgiving found the Willmons in Conroe, Texas at the Incredible Pizza Company. We went with my mom, and my sister and brother-in-law, and my aunt and uncle. The kids had a blast and some of the adults did as well. Well, ok, I had fun also. The two-story laser tag was pretty neat I have to say. And not only that, but on the way home, we stopped and took a picture of the Sam Houston Statue outside of Huntsville. OK, Andy wanted to take the picture.

Bailey and the LMS Eighth Grade Band

Tonight we had the opportunity to attend the LMS Super Bowl. The 7th and 8th grade footballs teams played and the LMS Eighth grade band got to march and play some tunes. Way on the back row you will find Bailey playing her flute. Go Bailey!

Panther Homecoming 2008

Friday Night The Willmons experienced their first Homecoming Game at Abe Martin Stadium. Andy & Ben took the night off to go see Beverly Hills Chihuahua (thanks Aunt 'Net!) So Bailey took along her friends Marissa Willmon and Hollin Jordan. Marissa's mom, Tammy Jo made mums for the girls. They had a good time socializing and we had a good time watching the game, because the Panthers won.

Zoo Boo 2008

"Does this blaster make me look fat?"

"How does that Force thing work again?"

"Do you feel lucky, droid?"

Last Saturday Night we made the trek out to the Ellen Trout Zoo for their Annual Zoo Boo. The Zoo always puts on a good time for the kids with lots of scary stuff, and lots of candy. Here are some pics for you to ponder. Andy & Ben love the Star Wars Clone Wars outfits. One is Commander Cody and the other is Captain Rex, but don't ask me which.

Music Builds Tour 2008 Houston Texas

Last night we ventured down to Houston for the Music Builds Concert tour starring: Jars of Clay (my favorite), Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Switchfoot and Third Day. Very good concert, very loud concert. The only drawback was the starting time of 6:30pm. Traffic was horrible and we didn't get there until after 7pm. Missed seeing Jars of Clay, which were the only band I cared about, but we did get to hear them on the radio (thanks to KSBJ!). I did pick up their new EP Closer and I can't wait to hear their new album in the spring. I guess I have an excuse to go see them in concert next year, huh? Third Day & Robert Randolph were both very good, but the best performance had to be Switchfoot. I had only heard two of their songs, but after seeing them live, I want to hear more. That is when my hearing returns. The video above was the finale featuring all the bands covering a U2 classic "When Love Comes to Town." The original version featured none other than B.B. King.

Hunker Down

About three years ago, during Hurrican Rita, we had no power and we were huddled in our living room listening to the radio. The only thing anyone could think of saying was, "Hunker down!" Well, we're getting ready for the arrival of Hurricane Ike. And I can honestly say, "I don't like Ike." So it seems that we will need to be ready to "Hunker down" for tonight and tomorrow. I hope and pray that all our family and friends our safe. I pray that God will be with everyone who is affected by this storm. We know that He is the only one who can speak to the winds and the waves and they will obey.

Breton Fisherman's Prayer:

"Dear God, be good to me,
the sea is so wide,
and my boat is so small."

Hunker down everyone, and be safe.

Bowling before bedtime

Chloe, Bai, Conner, Mal, Alex, Andy & Benjo
I got how many?????
Glad those bumper gaurds are there.
If my friends could only see me now.
Hello.

Happy Birthday Ben!

No, that's not a scene from this year's Comicon. It's just a scene from Ben's birthday party Sunday evening. Ben's best friend Alex was born just three days before Ben, so every year we gather with the Dant's (usually at their house, I might add) and party down. Here is a slice of the good life:

Mallory was enjoying the cake a little too much, doncha think?

Best Friends.

Election '08 Coverage

Well, November is not too far away and the general consensus about this year's elections can be summed up in this manner. To be honest I would be more interested in the outcome of synchronized swimming at the Olympics rather than the outcome of the Race for the White House. The term "lesser of two evils" hardly does this race justice, whatever your political persuasion.

Palm Beach Zoo

On our vacation to Florida, we didn't just lay on the beach all day. Well the girls did, but us guys wanted to do some more stuff, so one day we visited the Palm Beach Zoo. Here are some pictures. They had an area with two black bears and a place to see how one measures up to the bears. Andy is just under 5' and Ben is right at 4'. Behind them are the Black bear, the Grizzly bear and the Polar bear. They also had an interesting area with an Aztec theme. I didn't realize it at the time, but the zoo did not have an elephant or a giraffe. How can you have zoo with out an elephant or giraffe? Isn't that against the law? The boys had a good time so I'm glad we went.

Promise Keepers '08

This friday I will be headed to Dallas, Tx for the 2008 Promise Keepers event. I've been to a couple of events and I really enjoy it. It is really inspiring to see thousands of men worshiping God, learning how to love their wives and families, and encouraging one another. Some have been critical of Promise Keepers, but I've never experienced anything that I would consider ungodly. I am going with our friend, Jeff Buchanan: Pro fisherman, fishing guide, and real estate entrepreneur. I know we'll have a good time.

Are we crazy?

As I am sitting here typing this the time on the clock beside me says 10:20 p.m.
Now, I tell you that to set the stage for what is about to take place in our lives. Craziness? You decide. Scott is at this very moment driving to the bus barn to take our place in line for Lufkin Panther season tickets. Okay, let me back up. Bailey is in the band. She will be in the 8th grade this year. Next year, God willing and the creek don't rise, (haha) she will be marching with the Panther Band. Now, I knew at some point that this time would come someday; because being good parents we want to support our children in all that they do in life. This includes marching in the band. We don't have season tickets. Okay, what I did not know and some of you might not; is that LISD decided that this year they would make the entire home side of Panther stadium reserved seating and the only general admission tickets would be on the visitor's side. So, who wants to watch your kid perform from that side I ask? Not us. So...... we decided this would be our time to get the coveted tickets. We got the heads up that even though they wouldn't go on sale officially until 7am, folks would be in line early. Man, was that an understatement. We drove by after church, just to "scope it out" and there were at least 20 people in line already. Scott said that he read on some message board that one man planned to be in line by 1:00 this afternoon!!! I don't know about anybody else but that just seems crazy!! I mean, I have gotten into line early before but NEVER that early. I once got in line at Kmart at 3am but that was for a $10.oo scooter that Bailey had her heart set on for Christmas. And I did save almost $60.00. But I'm giving money to LISD for goodness sake. Alot of money.
I am going to try to get a few hours sleep now, since my shift in the line starts at 2am. So, I ask you..... does that make me crazy? Never mind, don't answer that.

Fine Arts Update

Fine Arts in Charlotte, NC is over, but we are proud to announce: The Edge puppetry team from Lufkin First Assembly tied for 8th place out of 48 teams! What an outstanding accomplishment for their first year to be involved in Fine Arts.

(Also big shout-outs to Michael Mendoza and Case Rhome. Michael was in the top 10 for T-shirt design. Case was in the top 10 for graphic design.)

Dear Aunt 'Net

I took this picture just for you. Love, Andy

Congratulations Bailey!

Bailey and about 40 friends (plus several adult sponsers) are in Charlotte, NC this week for the Fine Arts Festival. This is a ministry of the Assemblies of God which aims to cultivate creative and artistic ministry in church youth. The kids compete in various categories from songwriting to human video, music and even puppetry. Bailey competed with a puppetry group (The Edge) from our church. They did very well at the District-level competition receiving a Superior with Invitation which allowed them to attend the National Fine Arts competition in Charlotte. She called yesterday to tell us that The Edge had received a Superior with Honors rating for their performance! We are sooooo proud of them for all their hard work. And many thanks to Royce and Tammy Jo for their support of the team.

Andy can't wait....

All I've heard about all summer long...

Too bad I will be at Promise Keepers in Dallas when the movie opens. I guess I'll take the boys for a Sunday Matinee. I could've passed along to my sons a lot of things, but I'm glad I passed along my love of Star Wars. I wasn't really keen on the three prequels, so hopefully Clone Wars will be better.

Florida Vacation

On the 24th of July, the Willmon family left Texas and headed east for our family vacation. After many looooooooooonnnnnnngggg hours we arrived at our destination at Palm Beach Shores, Florida. Here are some pictures from our trip. We had lots of fun and we owe it all to David and Melissa Radke. Thanks guys!
